Locksmith Liberty handles home lockouts, lock rekeying, deadbolt installation and smart lock setup for houses, condos and apartments across Los Angeles, 24 hours a day. Technicians dispatch fast from Mid-Wilshire to all of central LA. You get a firm quote by phone before anyone is sent out.
Most of our residential calls come from the neighborhoods around our Mid-Wilshire shop: Miracle Mile, Hancock Park, Larchmont, Beverly Grove, Fairfax, Pico-Robertson and Koreatown (ZIP codes 90036, 90019, 90035, 90048, 90005 and 90010). Many of these homes are 1920s and 1930s Spanish bungalows and duplexes with original mortise locks that need parts, not replacement, and we stock those parts on the van.
Apartment and condo work is the other half of the job. Landlords in Koreatown and along Wilshire Boulevard call us to rekey units between tenants, fix mailbox locks and match building entry keys. Owners near The Grove and LACMA call about sliding patio doors, garage side doors and second-floor balcony locks that rarely get checked.
Every technician is licensed and insured, and the same crew handles our 24 hour emergency locksmith calls, so there is no separate after-hours company showing up at your door.

Rekeying keeps your existing lock and changes the pins inside so the old keys stop working. It is quick per lock and is priced by the cylinder with an upfront quote, which makes it the right choice after you move in, lose a key or part ways with a roommate, contractor or house cleaner. See our guide on what it costs to rekey a lock for a full breakdown.
Replacement makes sense when the lock is worn, damaged in a break-in, or when you want to step up to a Grade 1 deadbolt or a smart lock. On many older Mid-Wilshire doors the hardware itself is fine and only the cylinder needs work, so we tell you which one you need before we start, and the quote does not change on site.
If your front door, back door and garage side door all take different keys, we can key them alike so one key opens everything. Kwikset and Schlage residential locks in the same keyway can usually be matched on the spot, and Kwikset SmartKey cylinders can be reset in minutes. We cut spare keys for family members while we are there.
Landlords and property managers can use the same approach across a building: a master key for management, individual keys for tenants, and a rekey at each turnover. For offices, storefronts and multi-tenant buildings, our commercial locksmith team sets up restricted keyways and master key systems that stop keys being copied at a hardware store.
Locked out of a house or apartment in Los Angeles? We open the door without damaging it in nearly every case, using picking, bypass and decoding tools rather than drilling. Bring photo ID or a piece of mail that shows the address; if your ID is inside, we can verify once the door is open. A standard house lockout is priced by the job and quoted before the technician leaves the shop.
Broken key in the lock? Do not force the stub with pliers or glue. We extract the broken piece, check the cylinder for damage and cut a new key from the two halves or from the lock itself. If you want to try first, read five ways to remove a broken key, then call us if it does not budge.

Burglaries in LA are mostly forced entry through a door with a short strike plate or a sliding door with a flimsy latch. The fixes are cheap compared to the loss: a Grade 1 deadbolt with a one-inch throw, a reinforced strike plate set with 3-inch screws into the framing, a secondary bolt or track lock on sliding doors, and pin locks on double-hung windows.
For keyless entry we install and program Schlage Encode, Yale Assure and August smart locks and show you how to set codes for family, dog walkers and cleaners. Compare models in our article on the best smart lock brands for home security, or read our burglary prevention tips. We serve homes throughout Mid-Wilshire and Miracle Mile and Hollywood and West Hollywood, as well as Culver City and Santa Monica.

Fast. Our technicians dispatch from Mid-Wilshire, so addresses in Mid-Wilshire, Koreatown, Hollywood, Beverly Grove and Miracle Mile are our closest calls, with Culver City and Santa Monica close behind. We answer the phone 24 hours a day and give you an arrival estimate when you book.
Rekeying is priced by the lock cylinder with an upfront quote, and most homes with three to five doors are finished in a single visit. It is cheaper than replacing hardware and gives you the same result: old keys stop working. You receive one firm price by phone before we dispatch, and it does not change on site.
Yes. Bring a photo ID showing the address, or a lease, utility bill or piece of mail in your name. If everything is inside, we open the door and verify immediately afterwards. This protects you as the resident and is standard for licensed locksmiths in California.
Rekey unless the hardware is worn or damaged. Previous owners, tenants, agents and contractors may still hold keys, and rekeying voids all of them for a fraction of the cost of new locks. If the deadbolt is a light-duty model, this is also a good moment to upgrade the main entry to a Grade 1 deadbolt.
In most cases yes. Schlage Encode, Yale Assure and August retrofit units fit standard 2-1/8 inch bores. Original 1920s mortise doors sometimes need a new bore or an adapter plate, which we prepare on site. We program codes, connect the lock to your Wi-Fi and show you how to add and delete users.
